CHAAMP tries to be self-supporting by our adoption fees, but often we acquire Mals who need major medical care. Many Mals have heartworm, which is fatal if not treated. Unfortunately heartworm treatment costs more than $400 per dog. Some dogs are so ill they need significant medical care before heartworm treatment can commence (see Flopsy and Mopsy, now called Roxie and Clara on our Success Stories page).
Other times, a Malamute's story is so sad we absolutely have to help. An example of this is Miracle, who was shot at close range in the head and left on a trail to bleed to death. (see Miracle on our Success Stories page).
Although some of the Mals we get are perfectly healthy, they all must be examined by a vet, be vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. A typical vet exam and shots is $70. A spay or neuter is more than $100.
So you can see how this adds up! We appreciate any donation, small or large. If you would like to help in other ways, here's how to do it:
Could you ...
1. Pick up a dog at a shelter and take him or her to the foster home?
2. Take an hour every other weekend to walk dogs at the kennel?
3. Bathe a dog going to a new home?
4. Drive a dog to and from a vet appointment?
5. Go to a shelter to see if a dog is a Malamute?
6. Make follow up calls and visits to new adopters?
7. Help out during adoption days by manning the booth and talking to adopters?
8. Conduct a home visit for a prospective adopters?
9. Arrange a fund-raiser?
10. Help a new foster family put up a fence?
11. Ask your vet if he'll give CHAAMP a significant discount for our dogs needing medical care?

10 WAYS TO HELP CHAAMP IF YOU HAVE MORE MONEY THAN TIME:
1. Sponsor one of our dogs - pay their vet bills and/or kenneling costs - as a gift to a dog-lover you'd otherwise buy a present for.
2. Donate gift certificates, dog-related items, gift baskets for our fund-raisers.
3. Donate monthly heartworm pills and flea/tick applications for our dogs in kennels.
4. Pay for micro-chipping our rescue dogs.
5. Pay for a tank of gas for a rescue person.
6. Pay for an outdoor dog run or a fence for a foster home.
7. Pay for our liability insurance.
8. Donate a phone card, stamps, or printer paper.
9. Donate collars, leashes, and dog collar tags with the rescue's phone number on them.
10. Donate cash - your contributions are always deeply appreciated! We need funds to pay medical bills, kenneling costs, medication, food, and dog supplies.
